Unit 1: Design Basics
WEEK 1 - 3
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Students will demonstrate the difference between denotative and connotative.
- Students will design a resume based on the four principles of design: contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity.
- Students will create a blog that has a visual connection with their resume, business card, and stationery.
- Students will prepare a presentation and summarize one of Nemett’s elements or principles of visual expression: Line, Shape and Volumetric Form, Texture and Pattern, Color and Light, Structure, Space, Rhythm.
- Students will design a business card and stationery based on the four principles of design: contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity and the importance of color.
- Students will analyze an advertisement based on the elements of design (from Nemett’s and Non-Designer’s Design Book).
