Unit 2: Photography
WEEKS 4 - 7
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Students will apply photographic techniques such as point of view, composition, and lighting in addition to elements of design (line, color, shape, texture, etc) to their own original photographs.
- Students will evaluate and select their best photographs based on photographic techniques and elements of design.
- Students will assemble a collection of original photographs that visually illustrate a concept.
- Students will analyze a photograph from the Newseum based on elements of design and photographic techniques and write a critical analysis.
- Students will effectively communicate their individual approach to each photograph in their photo essay through an oral presentation. Students will evaluate and critique other classmates’ photographs.
Assignments
- Original photography based on a theme/concept
- Visit the Newseum
- Critical analysis of a Pulitzer Prize winning photograph from the Newseum
- Group oral presentation of original photography based on theme/concept
Students post all their assignments on their individual blog sites.
